My once-a-upon-a-time grey fine kint jumper from Gap has turned into a shabby gaping holed laddered mini dress. Undergarments required otherwise yer bits pop out.

Assisted one huge shoot for L'Officiel India and L'Officiel Hommes India magazines. The house was made of marble and every single item of clothing was Christian Dior, I kid you not.

And more birking chat (see below) word is (from Modelina's tweets) that Naomi Campbell is to auction off her pale green Hermes Birkin for the White Ribbion Alliance on the 10th of November, so you got time to save you pennys.

Is this her new way of doing community service?

The very nice ladies shopping in Selfridges at the moment from Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, I must say, remind me of the Dementors from Harry Potter books only far more stylish and sporting Birkin bags. Rather than sucking the life out of human souls they just do that to their husbands credit cards. Girl Power! Which begs the question, do they have Girl Power in Kuwait?

I stumbled across, or perhaps it was staggered as I had just polished off my afternoon aperitivo, L’una e L’Altra boutique on the Via del Governo Vecchio. It is the equivillent of fashion air con in Italys boiling love of polyster, sun blinding bling and blistering espadrille wedges. In a country obsessed by Gucci and Donatella Versace it was a breath of fresh air to find brands such as Martin Margiela, Rick Owens and Issey Miyake's A-Poc and Pleats Please collections stocked. A very happy accident. They have a website but it doesn't seem to work... www.nowinrome.com

P O L Y V O R E W H O R E

So I tried out Polyvore for the very first time today and all I can say is it's fucking dangerous. One minute your building an online colage of your fantasy wardrobe, yet too many clicks of the mouse and you've bought the £4000 Balmain leather skirt you were trying to rotate. Well here it is, I think it's an average first attempt to be honest. Give me crayons and a sketch block any day!

I'm a glutten for cheap online shoes, and my finds keep on getting better. These are my favourites from all under $30 from urbanog.com

Q U A N T O C O S T O ?

...was a phrase I used quite a lot while I was away, and good thing I did. Italians have an aversion to vintage clothing. Many of them hate the idea of wearing something that is not brand new so it's worth checking out the lesser know vintage places to find some amazing pieces. So I headed to Van Sannio in San Giovanni bright and early to hunt out some vintage. Once in the main tented rows of stalls, at the back right corner there is an small old Italian lady in pink lipstick, glasses and blonde perm scrapped into a scrunchie on top of her head. She's amazing. She had a good few racks of Dynasty style 80's dresses. Big shoulder pads, velvet diamontae chocker collars, metalic ployester fabrics, mesh pannels, exaggerated leg-o-mutton sleeves. I had so much fun trying them all on. Italians expect you to bargain and what I've learnt is be ruthless as she talks up her prices. Find a little fault if you have to if it'll help you bring the cost down. You'll need every cent you save for Via Condotti, Rome's version of New Bond Street.

Plain black cropped bolero type thing. I'm sure it was part of a set once upon a time but I plan on rocking it up with an old punk t-shirt, skinny jeans and McQueen booties.

The colours and shape of this dress is beautiful, got this one for my mum. I think she'll look amazing in this.
These zip braces I found in Cinza, a vintage shop on Del Governo Vecchio which I think was the best out of all the vintage boutiques there, some were very over priced. It's ran by a few friendly laid back Italian rock-a-billies and their three gorgeous dogs.
This bracelet was from one of the stalls in Via Sannio, same place where the vintage market was. You can find this stuff for 4 times the price on websites likeTribal Bazaar.

This ring was from the night market in Frascati and cost 10 euros. I was eyeing up one in a boutique in Covent Garden the other day that costs £45.

R O M E o n H O M E

Just back from Rome yesterday. A very relaxing week staying in the wine district of Frascati. I am utterly dissapointed to be back, I may just pick up my mail and hop on the next flight back.

New replacement Blackberry is taking a while to get used to. Having been sans phone for a week the indent of its scroll ball in my thumb has dissapeared. Also it now has an English accent as apposed to the American one it once had. Who is this posh tart on my phone and what did you do with the voice actication yank I'd grown attached to?! Bahh. Anyway, switched it on and there is just a flood of communication I could have well done without.

Blah Blah Blah... CLOTHES! As well as phones in the post my vintage dress from the Urban Collection arrived and I'm thrilled. it's seriously beautiful and it goes with everything, ha aren't I clever.

paired with default old black boots and blazer
As with everything I own, it gets the backwards test and passes with flying florals. (I am soo gonna try bring back the side plait!)

Never ever get angry then browse clothes online (especially foreign websites, fucking custom taxes). Because the stuborn cow in you will kick in and you'll hear yourself muttering 'FUCKIT!' under your breath as you click the 'complete purchase' button. Par example... the Miami Girl Mini Dress from The Urban Collection website. Boy do they have nice stuff!

Miami Girl mini dress - $66

GAHH! I've just read the customs duty and import VAT guff on the HM Revenue website. Shit. Why am I immune to small print!? This better be worth it.
