E . B L O G G I N G

Trying out blogging from my blackberry email. Hopefully this should show some pictures of my silver / gold bling. I'm liking the trend for over loading your digits with cocktail rings I just don't like mixing gold and silver.

D I R T Y S E C R E T

Had a rare late afternoon off from work and crept of to my wench, my dirty secret, my on-off love affair, yes, Topshop.

I go back for yet another fix of well designed catwalk rip-offs made of cheap fabrics with fraying seams, will I ever learn? No. I try things on endlessly, the thrill of the black dress with sulptural shoulders ware off as soon as it's been twirled in. I rarely ever go to the the flagship store for fear of being caught.

Instead I creep down to the concession in Selfridges so I can escape easily, wandering off into the make up counters and my lack of orientation being my excuse. I would consider taking you home, little layered pink top, to meet the rest of my clothing family but you are polyester and I hoped you would have been silk. So I try you on, and put you back. I'm a Topshop user and abuser behind those fitting room curtains.

But wait it gets worse. Not content with Topshop I sneak into River Island. Literally looking both ways before entering as you would on entering and adult entertainment shop in Soho.

My weakness for bling leads me straight to this chunk of gold. Reminds me off some things I've seen on Kabiri.

The racks of sale sirens on hangers call me in seductively. Grey jersey zip up jacket with padded shoulder and a pelmet waist. No only is it wrong, it's in the sale, £15. This is the fabric equivalent of Pretty Woman, the one who made it. The jacket will be mine and integrated with the rest of my finery.

The end result.
River Island jacket, Olanic fringed leotard, H&M acid wash leggings, Topshop heels.

Q U A N T O C O S T O ?

...was a phrase I used quite a lot while I was away, and good thing I did. Italians have an aversion to vintage clothing. Many of them hate the idea of wearing something that is not brand new so it's worth checking out the lesser know vintage places to find some amazing pieces. So I headed to Van Sannio in San Giovanni bright and early to hunt out some vintage. Once in the main tented rows of stalls, at the back right corner there is an small old Italian lady in pink lipstick, glasses and blonde perm scrapped into a scrunchie on top of her head. She's amazing. She had a good few racks of Dynasty style 80's dresses. Big shoulder pads, velvet diamontae chocker collars, metalic ployester fabrics, mesh pannels, exaggerated leg-o-mutton sleeves. I had so much fun trying them all on. Italians expect you to bargain and what I've learnt is be ruthless as she talks up her prices. Find a little fault if you have to if it'll help you bring the cost down. You'll need every cent you save for Via Condotti, Rome's version of New Bond Street.

Plain black cropped bolero type thing. I'm sure it was part of a set once upon a time but I plan on rocking it up with an old punk t-shirt, skinny jeans and McQueen booties.

The colours and shape of this dress is beautiful, got this one for my mum. I think she'll look amazing in this.
These zip braces I found in Cinza, a vintage shop on Del Governo Vecchio which I think was the best out of all the vintage boutiques there, some were very over priced. It's ran by a few friendly laid back Italian rock-a-billies and their three gorgeous dogs.
This bracelet was from one of the stalls in Via Sannio, same place where the vintage market was. You can find this stuff for 4 times the price on websites likeTribal Bazaar.

This ring was from the night market in Frascati and cost 10 euros. I was eyeing up one in a boutique in Covent Garden the other day that costs £45.

While boys browse in the Apple shop, girls go to Liberty's, drool over shoulder padded garments and crippling footwear. I couldn't leave the shop without buying something.
Nars 'Strip Tease' lip gloss - £17
This tacky belt buckle accessory was £38 reduced to £10 in Buttler & Wilson, and it makes a far better knuckle duster.

The boy went and bought a tonne of stuff from the Apple shop on Regent's street yesterday to replace the stuff that got nicked from his studio and they chucked in a free iPod Touch which he gave to me. To me that's mega extravagant. I'm thrilled! First thing I did was download the style.com app. It's bloody amazing! That app would have been the only thing to make me consider and iPhone or iAntything to be honest. It's bloody amazing app if you have an iOverrated appliance get style.com! iLove!

T H U N D E R

It's feeling of being really excited mixed with the feeling you've forgotten to do something you can't remember. A shadowy glow falls upon each room and the outside looks like a hybrid between light and dark. The clouds settle above us as if they were a thick blanket. Once they have covered the sky for as far as you can see they then burst into floods that cool the ground.

That's how thunder and lighting storms make me feel. The hail stones are the size of rocks and I'm worried it might break the window pane.
