Subjectify

Subjectify is my favourite photography blog. Written by someone know as Lexi, Subjectify concentrates on contemporary portraiture and always throws up questions I'd have never thought to ask of an image. It's made me want to dig out my old SLR, read Susan Sontag again and buy som 35mm film. No harm in that.

Selfridges Sale v. Button Willow Bazaar

For those of you who set your alarm clocks last night and got an early night in order to huddle outside Selfridges with the rest of the vulchers before 9am, shame on you. May you roast in eternal Primark hell!

For those of you who plan on popping in to grab a bargain on your lunch hour, then in the words of Mr.T "I pity the fool"

I was doing sale prep in the big yellow mental aslym untill 1am last night... 1AM!

High on sugar from consuming a disgusting amount of sugar, we managed to get the job done. The stock room lay bare as every single item was placed on a plastic coat hanger, red penned to the discounted price and carefully placed with similar styles beneath the correct percentage off sign. As far as overprced jumble sales go it looked pretty good. Exhausted we downed tools and waited for our car's home.

Then from the back of the floor we hear high pitched gigling, shreaks and hangers being moved! It was at that point my 'I'm-tired-and-stressed' twitch kicked in. Three heads bobbed over the ugly chrome runner rail jungle that is now the shop floor.

Three VM's had escaped their laborious duties of hanging up signs to shop the sale, at 1AM! Bastards! BACK TO WORK! Their high spirits continued until they reached us at the other end of the floor, faced with five tired and unimpressed faces.

The said how there were no real bargains and nothing very nice worth buying in the sale. Note: Why do you think these items ended up in the 'sale' in the first place? They are either hideous or over priced or both!

It is for these reasons, and a few others I shall not utter, that I ask you to over look the stressful, crowded, time wasting sales of the west end and instead enjoy a day out at the Button Willow Bazaar. The advocate drinking sherry accompanied by cake in the middle of the afternoon. It sounds fucking delightful, pardon my french.
"An old fashioned summer fete with a wonderful array of stalls offering hand made and vintage fayre. Stalls include handmade and affordable... jewelery, bags, illustrations, cards, clothes, children's clothes, homeware, toys, natural beauty products, fudge, chutney, accessories... For your entertainment... Tea, Cake, Bar, Tombola, Guess the weight of the cake, The Portable Photo Booth, Mystic Corner, The Reverand RPM Standish, Buy a kiss from a Miss, Bat the rat, Celebrity Vegetable Competition and much more!"

I bought a pair of flat black over the knee boots in a vintage shop in Paris two winters ago for about 70 euros. This time I want some height but not for the same price as a a return on the Eurostar.

Deja Vu? Yes, I blogged about these a while ago but now they're on sale, a sign?

Olsen-mania

A WHOLE blog dedicated to the Olsen twins.

I feel profound jealousy and overwhelming admaration; I love them but they make me want to develop an eating disorder and instantly shed 2 stone.

Two things you must always have on your person if you want to immitate their look. 1. Wayfarers. 2. The current issue of French Vogue.

Who Lives in a House Like This?

I love The Selby photoblog! Moslty because I'm a nosey cow and I want to see what people homes look like. But also because it shows that a persons home is quite often an extention of their style and personality.

It inspires me to make my house into my home. Also I'm having major storrage issues so I need all the help I can get. I mostly look at the ones from Paris and New York because I dream of having similar appartments there at some stage in my life.

My Favourite is Julia Roitfeld's pad. It's Minimal, soft and romatic.

5 Minute Fash-Off's!

Along the lines of an MC battle. Two fashionites frantically create an outfit live on a model in 5 minutes using, what looks like, duct tape, sports equipment and cutains.

It's like a sped up version of me as a kid and my dressing up box minus the Shoreditch dude in the hat.

Micro-Spree

Went shopping with the lovely Kaite yesterday. What started as coffee and a mammoth chocolate brownie divided by two in Hoxton Square went on to us down back street boutiques in Shoreditch and resulting in us trawling Oxford Street looking for a black mesh soft triangle cup bra. They do not exisit in London. None anywhere.

In need of sunglasses and these ghetto/Gaga's were only a fiver from Urban Outfitters.

Spent the last of my Topshop gift card on nail varnish. Katie, being an expert in make-up and a talented hair stylist, recommended the Barry M clear base as a base, not only for the grey varnish I picked up, but alos for any colour. And you know what, she was right! Get some of this

BANG ME AND WANG ME

*I've changed the image on this post. Still the same dress but a better picture.

There is one Alexander Wang dress I almost bought. It was a trance the minute I put it on. I fell in love with the fabric, thin, soft, slinky spandex. The drape down the centre back following my spine to it's base. The small shoulder pads that made me stoop like a model. Long clinging sleeves that ruffled at my wrist.

I am literally willing to do anything for that dress. Name your price, all I ask is you give me this dress in a size UK8.
